Meet Alana: Where Sign Language Meets Soul-Searching

Ever met someone who can tell you to "get your act together" in three different languages, including American Sign Language? That's Alana Solomon, LCSW, for you – a Vegas girl with a passion for breaking down barriers and building up spirits.

From Sin City to Silent City (and Back Again)

Picture this: a dedicated UNLV psychology grad decides to take "just one semester" at Gallaudet University to improve her ASL skills. Classic story of "I'll just dip my toe in" turning into a full-blown love affair with a university 2,500 miles away from the neon lights of home. But hey, sometimes the best decisions in life start with "let me try this for a minute."

Following in Mom's Footsteps (But Dancing to Her Own Beat)

Like mother, like daughter – but with her own twist. Alana followed her mom's path into social work, carrying forward the family tradition of helping others while adding her unique flavor to the mix. Her mom always said everyone has a story that brings them to social work. Alana's story? A burning desire to bridge the gap between mental health services and the Deaf/Hard of Hearing community in Las Vegas.

The Accidental Teen Whisperer

Here's a plot twist: The therapist who never planned to work in a high school setting is now the one teens trust when everyone else has written them off. Alana's philosophy? Nobody's "just being bad" – there's always a why. And finding that why? That's where the magic happens.

The Real Deal

When she's not changing lives one session at a time, you might catch Alana:

  • Quoting musicals (therapeutically, of course)

  • Being tackled with love by her pit/boxer puppy, Luci (who makes occasional cameo appearances in virtual sessions)

  • Proudly showing off pictures of her two nieces (warning: extreme cuteness ahead)

The Bottom Line

Alana's message is simple: "Let's get shit done!" (Though she might sign it more elegantly.) Whether you're a teen feeling misunderstood, someone from the Deaf/Hard of Hearing community seeking support, or just a human trying to figure life out, Alana's got your back.

Using a perfect blend of CBT, Motivational Interviewing, and trust-based relational intervention (with a dash of DBT for good measure), she's here to be that one person you can trust and open up to – especially when it feels like there's no one else.

Looking for a therapist who combines professional expertise with real personality? Someone who understands that everyone deserves a chance to be heard (in whatever language works best)? You've just found her.
